Kaye Freeman (b. 1963, Hong Kong, China) Explores the nature of transformation and the symbiosis of organic matter in the natural world. Her work utilizes painting, drawing, performance and film to describe the micro and macro of interconnections between environment, the self and nature. Most recently she was awarded the Juror’s Choice award at the Brand Works on Paper 52 anual exhibition, by renowned art critic Shana Nys Dambrot for her monolithic drawing titled The Ascension of Tubbsie, a work created to celebrate the passing of her dog into the ether. Freeman earned her BA and Masters in Japanese language and art education from the University Victoria Australia. Prior to that she earned her diploma in painting and print making from TAFE NSW. Freeman was a recipient of the John Olsen Scholarship at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. Recent solos shows include, Cosmic Origami at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Macon GA. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts, Gadsen AL. Recent performances include;  Sea Levels Rising for Diverse Art LA at the Los Angeles Art Show, Air at Building Bridges Santa Monica, Lifes: All Fours: The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and Air with the Heidi Duckler Dance Company. Ongoing collaboration with Amy Kaps: Hibiscus TV. A recipient of the She Prize for portraiture in Australia and first place for painting at the Beverly Hills Art Fair in 2018. Freeman was granted an O1 visa in 2016 for gifted artists. She is a qualified Masters of Wisdom Mediation teacher and lives and works in down town Los Angels with her husband, actor Miguel Perez and her dog Oscar the wise.
